Debbie is an expert lawyer with over a decade of diverse litigation and transactional experience. A former big-firm lawyer and in-house counsel, she now focuses her practice on divorce, custody, property division, and commercial litigation. Debbie’s years of experience have earned her a reputation for being well-prepared, persistent, and responsive. She explains, "Preparation and attention to detail are key in the practice of law. In all stages of a case, my goal is to be more prepared than opposing counsel so my clients have every competitive edge."
Prior to joining the Taggart Firm, Debbie assisted the team that obtained a nine-figure jury verdict in an oil and gas dispute for the late T. Boone Pickens. She prosecuted misdemeanor crimes for a year in the Collin County District Attorney’s Office. Debbie also served as corporate counsel at a publicly-traded e-commerce solutions provider. There she interpreted, drafted, and helped negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements, including SaaS, master service, NDAs, global outsourcing, supply chain, and government procurement. She also advised management regarding privacy and data protection and e-commerce issues in the United States, the EU, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Debbie is an honors graduate of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where she was Leading Articles Editor for the SMU Law Review Association. She was also a member of the Order of the Coif. Prior to law school, Debbie earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Abilene Christian University, also with honors.
Debbie is active in the legal community as a member of the Collin County Bar Association and Collin County Women's Lawyers. She is a past member of the Higgenbotham Inn of Court and the Pickens' trial was admitted into the Texas Verdict Hall of Fame in 2018. She is also a committed volunteer with a number of civic and charitable organizations. In her spare time, you will find Debbie at Orange Theory Fitness (whining about burpees), taking theology classes (yes, she is a nerd), or embarrassing her adult sons on social media (at which she excels).
